Classroom Pictures

We started back to work July 29 (my birthday) and kids came the next Monday! In Kindergarten we stagger so I didn't have any kids until Tuesday and only had 5-6 at a time. I really stepped up my red and black theme this year. I have been slowly converting over the last few years and this year almost finished it off. I have a few little things I would like to do but overall it is finished! Check it out!!

Clutter Free Classroom Project Week 6 and 7

Okay so Sunday I went to post my upcycling of a storage container when I saw week 7's topic, organizing your teacher bag. I knew then I needed to make one post. I did both!!!

I took this old yucky looking filing box.
Took my favorite teachers bag from 31!

Took all the junk out of said favorite teachers bag!

Put yuck yellow filing box into wonderful teachers bag!
Filed all lose papers into a folder.
I know have in my bag, my teachers notebook, my to do list, file folders (to do, to file, to read, to send home, and to copy), my Debbie Diller book for my book study, a notepad, and my iPad. In the front I have pockets for jump drives and pens.

You should show us yours!

Clutter Free Classroom Project Week 1

Well I am a day late, but I went back to work for the first time in 8 weeks this week, so surely you can forgive me!!! I almost forgot (even though I had it on my to do list EVERY DAY THIS WEEK!!) to take pictures before I left. I took pictures of two areas that I really want to fix, and then just some general pictures of my room, and one area that I organized, made labels for and gotten the way I would love my whole room to be. Here you go my before pictures:

Of course it would help if I would explain. If you feel completely lost in this post then you probably don't know about Clutter Free Classroom's Project to help us all get more organized. Check out her blog to learn all about it and join up. It's going to be so much fun, and who could pass up a chance to party every Friday (well linky party at least!!!)

Paint Sticks

While exploring the internet a few weeks ago I came across an idea on Kelly's Kindergarten for using paint sticks to make name plates for the children. I had planned on using this idea when another one came to me. I sort my classroom books by themes for reading stories, math topics, holidays, and so forth. I was using pieces of long thin pieces of paper. I made a list of my all my themes, counted them and headed down to Home Depot. They were kind enough to give me 75 paint sticks for free (without any paint). I wrote each theme on the front and back of the sticks and slid them between my books instead of those papers. My thinking behind this is that the wooden sticks will last longs and stick out from between books better than paper. In the pictures you will see a few of my sticks written on front and back, and the sticks in use on the top shelf with my old paper dividers on the lower shelf. I still have several paint sticks left so I am considering the name plate idea, but if any one can think of another use for them I would love to hear it.
