This weekend I worked on a few math games. They are practicing time and numbers on a clock. I made them for this year, even though next year when we switch to common core time is no longer a kindergarten standard. Neither is money. I know we have decided to still include time and money in our morning calendar time so the kids are still exposed to it. What about you? Will you continue to teach time and money in some way? Do you think they need to be exposed to it before they get to first grade?
Anyway if you plan on still teaching it in kindergarten then you might like these games, but it meets the common core standard 1.MD.3 for 1st grade. Go check them out at my TpT store. The clip art game from Graphics from the Pond (one of my favorites!!!!)
I have to say I was a little disappointed this morning when we didn't have a snow day or a delay. Yes you heard me right I said snow day. It was suppose to snow here last night. I really hoped our county would give us the day. We have 5 built in days left! Anybody else have built in days left? If so what is your county doing with them? Just wondering what is happening everywhere else!!!
Have a great week!!!!!

Math Work Stations Book Study
I am participating in a book study for the boo Math Work Stations by Debbie Diller. I thought I would post my answers, thoughts, and questions here and see what kind of feedback I get back throughout the book.
So this is the beginning. Chapter 1
Questions:
1. If you are already using literacy work stations, what parallels did you see between literacy and math work stations?
I do something similar to literacy stations. I think the parallels are the elements of choice and independence. The students have multiple activities to choose from, they make those choices on their own and complete their activity on their own. Also a good amount of time is needed at the beginning to model each station for the students. Behavior problems will occur with out proper time learning the process.
2. How will what you teach in whole group impact the work stations? Share some examples of what you might move from whole-group math instruction to math stations.
During a unit on measurement you might have a whole group activity measuring items with cubes, then in a math station you could have cubes and a measure the room paper (similar to write the room). Another idea could be using red/yellow counters to make up number stories about each other in whole group, the counters could then be added to a station for them to make up their own number stories.
Notes I took while reading:
I loved the taping index cards to a clipboard for assessment. I made one of these the very next day!
Math talk is very important. I like the idea of including cards for "math talk" sentences on it to help them remember what to say with out you there.
Questions I have after reading:
1. Do you correct students in stations or remain a silent observer, write down what they did, and cover in small group?
2. Do you have stations everyday?
3. What would the entire math block look like?
Stay tune chapters 2 and 3 will come later this week, since I have read them already. Then it will probably slow down to once a week. Share with me your thoughts on Math work stations.

Pinterest Thursday
Pinning has become such an addiction for me while off on leave, I am really worried that I might suffer withdrawals when I return to work next Wednesday! As long as I am looking for school stuff it should be okay to pin while I am taking my pumping breaks, right?!
Anyway here are this weeks pins!!! YAY!!
This one is for school! I love Debbie Diller. I use her ideas in reading and plan to use them in math soon (again with the plan to change my math and didn't get to it!). Also I get to see her this summer, and I am so excited!!
This one is a favorite of mine. I used to live in Cookeville TN and there was a restaurant there called Thomas Andrews and they had this amazing appetizer that is so much like this salad. As soon as I found this I went out and bought the stuff for lunch!!!
And my last one is for my babies, but it comes with a question:
So is it bad to dress my little girl up as a football for a picture!?!?!?!?
Happy Pinning!!

Pinterest Thursday and Freebie Friday
Yesterday I felt awful. So I did not get around to posting my favorite things for the week from Pinterest. I will include it today with the Friday Freebie!
Some of my favorite things this week are:
For school I would love to try this out
My little boy is in love with Elmo (in fact one of his Christmas gifts is tickets to see Sesame Street Live with passes to meet the characters before the show!!), he also LOVES fruit. He will spit cake out for a piece of fruit. So this is so perfect for him!
And my last pin for the week is one for me. We have this really long hallway and I have been looking for something to put in it. I think having our Nanny/Photographer/Web Designer (you remember the one who made my button!) take "photo booth" pictures of us all and doing this in our hallway!
Have a great weekend!!!!
